3 Months

Preston turns 3 months this week. Time has indeed flown by! My guess is that he weighs over 15 lbs - I'll know for sure at his 4 month check up in Jan. He is now wearing 6-9 months size clothing. Some 3 month accomplishments are - recognizing familiar faces (usually accompanied by a big smile), getting closer to sitting up, drooling, babbling and cooing, laughing, scratching his face, clasping his hands together, and generally sleeping for about 7 hours a night. Things Preston's enjoys are playing with his plush turtle Lamont, stuffing is hand in his mouth, bath time, Mom's song time, straining to watch TV (mom does NOT allow him watch usually), being in the buff, eating, and his favorite time of day is first thing in the morning when he wakes up. There are a few nick names that he is also getting used to - Bucket, Fussy Face, Hungry Monkey, and Poopy Pants. Keep up the good work Preston!

Poetry at its best

Mine and Jackie Shafer's December b-day wish was granted - we wanted a Poetry Party, and Poetry Party we got! I know what you're thinking - lame, lame and lame. But it was pretty awesome. There was beatnik attire, snapping and drum playing. Poetry Heaven. The gist - we gave everyone poem definitions as a refresher (Haiku, Sonnet etc), and had them place random nouns in a bowl for us to draw out of. Each poem we did had to incorporate the nouns we picked, and we had to read each of them aloud. I haven't laughed so hard in a very long time. Here's a sample of a few of my poems.

Limerick (words: dreamcatcher, i pod)
I purchased an i pod today
A million songs it can play
Dream catcher
Potato smasher
I like sitting by the bay

Sonnet (words: cavity, applesauce, assistant to the regional manager, electrician, paint chip)
What do paint chips taste like?
Probably not very good.
If I got locked in our basement,
Would I consumer paint chips or wood?
Ah! Neither would I choose,
Our emergency storage I would peruse.
I’d start with applesauce
Maybe Tree Top or Motts
And finish with a little booze
But what if I get a cavity?
Would I have to remove my own tooth?
Like Tom Hanks in Cast Away –
I think I’d rather puke.
No thanks assistant electrician to the regional manager.

Hey - I didn't say it was good poetry.

A quarter of a century.....+1

So its official, Sarah is now 26 years old. Yikes! Thanks to all who sent b-day wishes, they were much appreciated.

How did we celebrate? The Friday before, Dave and I went out to dinner withOUT PG, and it was great to have a break, just the 2 of us. On Monday Dec. 3rd - the actual blessed day, Preston's gift to me was grumpiness.....all day long.

And we spent the evening decorating the Christmas tree - as is tradition in the Doughty household.

Oh, and we assembled my newly purchased treadmill which I've been begging for....

All in all - 26 has been pretty awesome. Accept for my lack of blog entries, I'll try to step it up.
