He buys jeans, and never washes them. When they get so disgusting/smelly/stiff that they are unwearable, he pitches them and buys new ones. Why does he do this?
"Because after you wash them, they just don't fit the same".

He can freeze them instead. It kills the germs and smell without compromising the jeans. Have him fold them tight and put them in a ziplock bag for about 36 hours. Srsly, it's been proven that this is as good as washing at getting rid of germs and smell. Dirt and the fact that jeans get progressively baggier is another matter.
