no shoes.

I took the kiddo to this indoor play gym. Why? Because I love him. Kids' places in general are not my favorite. For many reasons - such as this.....One of the rules was "no shoes allowed". Since I wasn't wearing socks, I told her, "Yeah, that's not happening". She said "Oh its fine if you're not planning on going on the equipment". Done. But once inside, I saw other parents with no shoes on. And a few with bare feet. Sick. You're a grown up, you have rights. Seriously.

Then I went back with some friends and their kids a few days later, and the same chick was like, "And if you could remove your shoes too, that would be great." And I was all, "Oh, I'm not going on the equipment". She replies, "We just don't want dirt tracked in, so no shoes allowed." To which I replied, "I was here less than a week ago and you told me (blah blah blah - see above convo)." And she just gave me the same schpeal about dirt. To which I replied, "Dirt is much more sanitary than what's on strangers' bare feet". And she just kept repeating herself, in her high pitched, chipper I'm in my mid-twenties and working at a kids gym and my uniform is a referee shirt voice. Finally she offered "shoe covers". Great, information that would have been useful 10 minutes ago. "Oh and they are .75 cents". I hand her my debit card....again. "Oh, well, it has to be at least a $3.00 minimum charge in order to use your card". Lady - do you know how close you are to the end of your life? Luckily I spared her b/c I had some change. And luckily I have great friends, because they all just laughed and laughed at the whole exchange.

PS - my kid has no fear. We're screwed.
