Dear older couple waiting for a parking spot directly behind me as I try to pull out of my space at Costco. Yes, I backed into you. No, there was nary a scratch on your ity-bity Prius - admittedly by you. So why did you feel the need to lecture me on safe driving? To answer your questions please note the following:

• YES I checked my mirrors. I can't believe you felt the need to ask that. But you know what? Your tin can sized hippie vehicle was barely visible at the bottom of my side view mirrors, and not visible at all in my rear view mirror. I know because I checked to make sure I wasn't crazy when I got back in the car.
• YES I know I'm lucky.
• NO I didn't know you'd been waiting there awhile. If I had noticed you waiting there at all, perhaps I would have chosen not to start backing up. Admittedly I was preoccupied crawling into the back seat to appease 2 screaming children.
• YES. I know it was completely my fault. 110%. Hence my multiple apologies, offering my #/insurance info, and saying "Its all my fault, I'm so very sorry....". But you're the one that didn't want any of my info. Apparently a stern lecture is payment enough for a non scratch on your space pod.

I have a question for you - do all of your questions/insinuations change the situation? NO.

Mental note for the future - never lecture a young mom who perhaps might be tired, frazzled, frustrated, in a hurry, preoccupied, multitasking etc etc (or all of the above).....she might just go ape on your a$$. Its not an excuse, I'm just quite sure you weren't thinking about my side of the story. Lucky for you, this young mom was emotional today, so instead of defending herself she just cried in the car with her 2 screaming kids after you yelled at her. Good going. I'm glad you're bald.
