Last minute arrangements proved perfect for the spouse and I to sneak off to an opening night midnight show of the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Of course it was too late to assemble proper HP attire, so we did the best we could with what was in our closets. And Suz, I tried with all my might to find/wear the HP glasses. They have vanished. I suspect the vanishing cabinet I recently purchased from Borgin and Burkes. But that's purely speculation.

lessons learned.
- D absolutely cannot make a "fish face". Its like, I don't even know who I'm married to anymore.
- Items found in our hallway trashcan this week. Swim diapers (an entire pack), PGs Sunday shoes, monkey pjs and one of my necklaces.
- Mom bought PG a giant plastic beetle. It haunts my dreams.
- "Diet Coke" the official breakfast of champions. Its definitely held its weight this week.
- I was getting my hair done a few weeks ago, and my stylist asked how old I was. I replied, "27". "Oh"...long pause....."You look way young". So, apparently 27 deserves the kiss of death. I wasn't aware.
- Zumiez. Not a fan, for various reasons. Recently I went to cash in on a $50 gift certificate, which they told me was worth double the amount I thought ($100). So I spent another 45 minutes scrambling to get more items to fill my tab (no way I was coming back). When they were ringing up my purchase, turns out I was right. It was only for the original $50 amount. Hatred of Zumiez resumed.

raisinettes.
Its summer, which means we've had more opportunities for babysitters than usual. AKA my mom is a teacher and has the summer off, and D's parents let us freeload off of them whenever we care to drive to northern UT. Needless to say, D and I have been seeing movies like there's no tomorrow.
Since we are usually in a hurry to get out the door, we've let our priorities slip. On occasion, we've been prone to purchasing theater treats actually from the theater instead of sneaking them in (much to my frugality's dismay). The other week I decided it was treat time right as the previews started. I went to the counter and waited patiently (sort of - I hate missing previews). The guy ahead of me was taking his sweet time deciding what to get, as if the choices have changed. Popcorn, candy, soda - get on with it. After literally an eternity, he ordered Raisinettes. Really. $3.50 and 10 minutes I will never get back for a box of the world's most disgusting candy. I'm not sure how, but I decided it had to be all Michael Bay's fault.

4th=longest day ever, and possibly longest post ever.
Here are the highlights:
Wake up call 5:30 AM.....why?
Wake up call 5:30 AM.....why?
"Freedom Run". Instead of following my instincts, I followed the flock of people headed in the opposite direction (no metaphors please, unless you'd like a well timed heart punch), and ended up at the 5k start instead of the 10k start. So after being horribly upset/disappointed, I decided to reboot - run a faster 5k than I did 2 months ago. And I did - by 8 minutes.
While I was running, the rest of the family was enjoying fresh donuts and hot air balloon launching (fatties).
PG and Nana.
But they missed out, cause I caught this beauty landing on my exodus from the finish line to my family.
Funniest pic ever? Possibly.....

Funniest pic ever? Possibly.....After we met up, we decided that we weren't too exhausted to watch the parade, which was awesome. I guess anything is awesome when the only parade you've seen is the past 5 years in the Preston Rodeo Parade. Sorry Preston, but you surely do not have a Real Salt Lake float with a twirling soccer ball.
Then we finished making our 4th of July hippie shirts, and ate some awesome grub. (D refused to participate in hippie shirt making, so he wasn't allowed on film).
Finally, we somehow managed to find an empty field and watched Stadium on Fire fireworks.

lessons learned.
- D uses "clinical strength" deodorant. In a hurry, I used it and consequentially burned my off a layer of flesh. So I guess in a way its good, cause I don't need deodorant anymore.
- I ventured to a local $1 store the other day, and at the check out counter I noticed a display of pregnancy tests.....pregnancy tests. Of the many items you should not purchase from the $1 store, I'm pretty sure that's in the top 3. Right up there with fish and condoms.
- Rumbi, how I've missed you.
- Went to the Living Aquarium. There was definitely some living things.....swimmy living things. Which now terrify me. What a sad, sad realization.
- On July 4th I'm getting up at the crack of dawn and running 6.2 miles in the "Freedom Run". And I'm paying $$ to do it. If you know me at all, this stands against everything I hold dear (sleeping in, good deals, and not sweating). If I'm found dead on the side of the road, at least you'll know it was in pursuit of Freedom via running (whatever that means).
- There's a purple van I see all the time around the area, you can't help but notice it. Its like Where's Waldo ghetto style. D brought up the theory that maybe there is actually a fleet of them, and they are sent out just to mess with me. I'm lucky to have found someone that will indulge my insane conspiracy theory tendencies. Truely lucky.

butter.
Sometimes when you live in Utah, you get asked to make butter from whipping cream in a jar, and agree to prance around in frumpy pioneer clothing.

Then you spend the whole next day staring at said butter in your fridge and trying to negotiate any and all reasonable things to eat it on because it is that delicious. And because you don't want to be that freak that eats butter straight out of a jar with a spoon.
I gotta get out of here.
