- Getting your wedding ring re-coated to look all shiny and new, is like getting a new one altogether. Which is awesome. And this from a girl who normally could care less about jewelry.
- When I say I'm putting PG to bed it = putting him in his crib. When D says it, it apparently = holding him until he falls asleep, then leaving him on the twin bed in the room, only to have him wake up 2 seconds later and come upstairs.
- It always looks classy when you are at the police station and your kid takes his pants off, then puts the trashcan on his head before you can get to him (no joke, it was lightning speed). I think its safe to say we fit right in. sigh.
- I haven't seen or heard of the movie Tron. Which makes me un-American (so I've been told by my spouse). To which I responded "well, is it space-y? Cause you know I really was never into those types of movies". Film major - bah!
- I was finally very direct with a telemarketer. I didn't listen to a schpiel, or pretend to be interested. I just said, "not interested, and please take us off your list". It was glorious.

conversation of the year.
The scene: Dave sitting on the couch watching his cartoons. I'm next to him fully engrossed in my laptop, waiting for my mom to get her workout clothes on so we can go.
Thanks mom.
Mom: (plops on the couch, after changing) - "What are we watching? The Super Duper Friends?"
Dave: (long pause) "Or, the Justice League".
Me: Laughing and laughing until I cried.
Thanks mom.

lessons learned.
- When its time for your mom to leave, its a sad, sad day.
- Star Trek is just as awesome the 2nd time around.
- I've heard of the nefarious Oreo Cakester, and have steered clear of them in order to avoid certain addiction. This week was the closest I've ever been to opening a pack.
- Today is the state holiday "Pioneer Day". There are many, many reasons I would have made a horrible pioneer - here are a few: No Diet Coke. All the walking. It was hot. Wearing a bonnet. "Are we there yet?" Child wrangling. All the walking.
- On the milk I purchase it has the plant and inspector name. Today's milk was inspected by Alfredo. Thanks Al. Its tasty.
- My bro's cell phone somehow received some water damage and stopped working. My mom put it in a bowl of uncooked rice to remedy the problem. I laughed and laughed. Until after 24 hours she retrieved it, and IT WORKED. Holy freaking cow. Apparently I went to the wrong mom school.

swimmy swammy.
There are a few things PG inherited from my side of the family. Whiter than white hair, a flatter than flat rear end, and thankfully a hearty appreciation for water. I started him early because I had to know if my dreams of beach trips and water sports were going to ever become reality. I'm very relieved to report I couldn't get him out of the water. He even dove in a few times. During our 2 week lesson period he would grab his trunks and wait by the front door for hours. YES.
The only thing he wasn't fond of was monkey crawling. I'm going to chalk it up to not being interested rather than lack of ability.

incubus.
We went, we conquered. And there were a few things we learned.

- We're old. So be bought tickets for actual seats, not the pit.
- We're old. So we indulged in some Red Bull to make it through the night.
- Our high school/college experience was completely void of any extreme encounters with alcohol or drugs. Gypped, I know. Here's to the guy who had to be escorted out because he forgot how to wear pants. It happens sometimes.
- Brandon Boyd - you are worthy of D's man crush. I can think of few people besides yourself, that are talented enough to cover Prince's "Let's Go Crazy". Well done.

lessons learned.
- If you try on a pair of pants labeled as the "skeletor fit", you're most likely not to get a self esteem boost.
- When I'm tired, I truly have a hard time forming the words that come out of my mouth.....such as "debilitating" - how ironic.
- My floor needs to be swept and mopped again. This seems to be a reoccurring problem. I'm not sure what to do about it.
- I really, really miss you Red Bull. Really. Good thing the dude sitting next to me at the HP midnight show brought one. I almost forgot all about you.
- Who doesn't love pancakes? Honestly. Well, my spouse doesn't. But come on, who?
- I have always been annoyed by Debbie Phelps. She's obviously very successful, and I'm sure she's very nice. Whatever.
- HP midnight show +Incubus concert = zombie mom. Getting old sure is depressing. "Its tired in here."

HP at midnight.
Last minute arrangements proved perfect for the spouse and I to sneak off to an opening night midnight show of the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Of course it was too late to assemble proper HP attire, so we did the best we could with what was in our closets. And Suz, I tried with all my might to find/wear the HP glasses. They have vanished. I suspect the vanishing cabinet I recently purchased from Borgin and Burkes. But that's purely speculation.
