and now i have a lisp.....
Awhile ago, my bonded (permanent) retainer connecting my upper central and lateral incisors broke (are you impressed Mr. Shafer?). I'd been bugging D to call his dentist uncle to see if he could re-cement it. Months passed, and my teeth moved. A gap formed that a semi truck could drive through. Long story short, a call to an orthodontist was made to survey the damage. Verdict? I get to wear a retainer 24/7 for the next 10 months.

Good bye old friend. You were so small, yet so significant. You fought a good fight. 16 years in fact.
Hello new friends. Aren't you so glad you're a shade of pink that burns the eye? I am too. (PS - the clear one is for my bottom central and lateral incisors to move them a smidge, but I only have to wear that one nocturnally).
Again with the metal mouth. Apparently 5 years of braces, retainers and head gear was not nearly enough. Also, it makes me gag. All the time. Bonus.

lessons learned.
- We built mini catapults for Cub Scouts this week. There are many reasons I was never a Scout, and catapult building just may be at the top of the list.
- Dear Harry Potter. I'm sorry I let you down by not attending your premiere night. I've grown old. I have kids. And I most certainly cannot stay awake past midnight. I know you don't understand, but at least I hope you'll forgive me.
- We've had a good friend return from his mission lately, and he's been spending a lot of time at our place. Being a very polite young man, he often asks everyone how they are and what they did that day. My answer is usually ridiculously lame. (laundry, kid stuff, cooking). In short, depressing. Every time I answer I feel like adding, "Oh yeah, and I drive a mini van" on the end.
- Walking Dead is now on my list of things I cannot watch right before bed. I swear there was a zombie in Ells room the other night.
- Sometimes you make a 10 pm trip to Target because your toddler ATE the baby monitor.
PG: "I ate it."
Me: "You ate it?"
PG: "I put it in my mouth, and I ate it."

what PG refers to as "Mickey House"
Much to my dismay - PG loves the show Mickey Mouse Club House. I dislike it for many reasons (although admittedly there are far worse children's shows out there). Here's an example.
Today was "grasshopper day" - so Mickey and his pals only had the option of hopping to get around. When they got to the creek, they couldn't swim across because.......swimming isn't hopping. Mickey had a brilliant solution. HOP ACROSS ON THE BACK'S OF 2 HIPPOS.
- Completely logical solution, right?
- Hippos are killing machines. You'd be masacred before you even thought about doing the "hot dog dance" (Mickey's dance at the end of the show).
I told PG - "if you ever see a hippo, run for your life. Mickey obviously has no idea what he's doing."
"OK mom."

solid.
Someone graduated to solid food this week. I started her out with peaches.
Before.
After.
After the initial shock of mush in her mouth, she devoured the whole thing. I'd say it was a success.
Also - is there any baby that has ever enjoyed peas? Cause cold mushy peas sounds amazingly delicious. I have no idea why neither of my children refuse them.....Just curious.

lessons learned.
- Cinderella Story - its just as amazing a movie as you can imagine. Hillary Duff is an impecable actress.
- HOW did I not know about this show Sister Wives? "Repulsive, yet I can't look away." (Can you tell A). D has been working crazy late hours and B). I have TV back?
- Just because you own a business, does not mean you should be in your company's commercials, and especially on a giant, giant billboard.
- I'm beginning to think that the "terrible twos" pale in comparison to having a 3 year old. What has happened to my little boy?
- Whenever PG plays with any sort of figurines (Toy Story, Candy Land pieces etc.) the conversation goes as follows. "I'm sorry, Dad has to go back to work, you stay here and be a good boy for mom". Oh, the guilt Mr. Aller. The guilt.

a magical weekend.
- 1 kidney stone (Dave)
- 7 stomach flus (me, PG, Ells, D, my mom, my brother, D's sister. Feeling left out? Come on over!) all within 48 hours.
A few highlights from the past 2 days:
- Me puking in a parking lot of the doctor's office
- PG puking in the waiting room of aforementioned doctor's office 10 min. later (yes I was prepared).
- D's sis getting an IV (the nurse was bragging about how she always got the needle in on the first try....then it took her 4 + tries with Kat. Oh the humanity).
- Me wandering Target in my pajamas
- Doing 33 loads of laundry in 3 days (well, my mom did most of them)
- Doing 17 loads of dishes (again, thanks mom)
- Filling 7 prescriptions for 5 people.
Dave. ER.
Kat. Waiting Room.
Like I said - it was magical
