What do I do all day?

I'm sure many of you are super anxious to know what I (Sarah) do all day at the Noni. Our company sells a variety of health and beauty products based off of the Noni fruit found in Tahiti. In the department I work for, Creative Services, we outsource all of our graphic design. SO - I manage specific departmental accounts (Gifting, or Cafes for example), and when they have design needs, I coordinate with our outside vendors to get the job done. I love it!

As you can imagine - in a department full of "creative types" we have a lot of bizarre requests and behavior. I'll let you decide which of the following are actually work related.
  • Noni Wars: For some reason, one of our specialty items is a Nerf-like Noni fruit replica- and we have a giant box of them. I'll let you do the math.
  • Cardboard Cutouts: Yes we have them - of the Noni bottle, and for some reason, a life-size one of our companies 5 founders. It was a good day when it ended up in the ladies restroom.
  • Treats: They are abundant, and sometimes required if you'd like to attend a meeting.
  • Tiny coconut bras: An entire day was spent constructing one to transform a Noni bottle into a Tahitian Dancer.
  • 3 Foot Paper Airplane: It ended up (very slowly) hitting me in the head.
  • Queen Latifah: Her life size cardboard cutout stayed up for a good 3 months.
  • Salty Balls: Someone covered salt pellets with chocolate and brought them around for treats. That was a great day too.
  • Flying candy: At least twice a day, a hard candy war erupts. I have yet to receive a Purple Heart.
  • DeLorean: Yes, a complete life size replica of the famed 'Back to the Future' car is alive and well in our atrium (next to the waterfall).
  • Kid Haters: We dowsed an 8 year old with a garden hose (this one's legit, it was for a photo shoot- we only hate kids slightly).
  • Snakes on a Plane: I'll take credit - I sent personalized voice messages from Samuel L. Jackson promoting Snakes on a Plane to everyone I knew.
  • Sleeping bags: Sometimes (especially during convention), HR "conveniently" looks away as we work round the clock to get videos, signs, brochures, t-shirts, tickets etc. out the door on time. Let's hear it for other departments time management skills.
  • Darts: Yes please, I'm getting close to a bulls eye.....one of these days.
  • Mini Golf: Yes please again - its surprising what can fit under your desk.
  • Photoshop: Since we are all masters in the program, the occasional Photoshopped 'boss in a bikini' will show up via copies on every wall in sight. I plead the 5th.
  • Bling: We have a price sign for a product named 'Pink Ladies Bling Hat'.
  • Race Track: The instant the power goes out - we are all ready with our remote control cars. It makes the time fly.
  • Ken Jennings Brother: Ken Jennings was a Millionaire Mormon contestant on Jeopardy, and his brother works in our legal department.
  • YouTube: We have multiple clips on YouTube involving a large plastic tarantula that dangles off the end of a dowel rod.
I'm sure there's many more that I have yet to recall. I'm also sure that all of you are jealous. God Bless Noni - in all its glory.

Its a Boy!......?

Yesterday was our first ultrasound, and its a boy.....we think. The technician changed her mind a few times, but settled on "pretty sure". We are going back next week for a 100% image to confirm. No matter how hard the technician jabbed Sarah's tummy with the wand, our little dino refused to uncross his legs. His hands and arms were waving in an Arsenio Hall like fashion, as if to mock us (as we are sure he was).

We are both super stoked that everything seemed in check and healthy (Sarah was really concerned about health issues), and that the only obstacle was our little bundle of stubbornness.

Friday the 13th! Bwahahaha

I (Sarah) read this article today about people's irrational fears, and it was hilarious! The link is below, I encourage all to take advantage.

http://health.msn.com/centers/mentalhealth/articlepage.aspx?cp-documentid=100159963

So, in lieu of this nonsensical day of fear - here are 13 my craziest fears (not counting the general ones like death of a family member, or nuclear holocaust etc. that everyone has).
  1. Spiders: I can't look at pictures of them, I can't think about touching them (especially the big ones). I am getting closer to killing them....if they're small.
  2. The "LOST" title intro: For those of you that know and love the ABC show "LOST", you are well aware of the opening title......(the "LOST" logo getting bigger and bigger as it comes toward you with creepy music in the back ground). I can't even watch it.
  3. The Dark: Am I a grown up? I'm not sure.....b/c I'm terrified of the dark.
  4. Loud Noises: Fog Horns, thunder, our blender, motorcycles - you get the idea.
  5. Dolls - in all their variety: Ever since we snuck into the Provo Doll Museum, I'll never be the same.
  6. Cows: They are cute from afar, but I've had one too many stare me down. I'm quite certain they were planning on charging me......
  7. Large Bodies of Water: Well at least being alone in them. As in, waiting for the boat to get into water-skiing position while you're out there, alone, in the murky water. Surfing, boogie boarding, tubing when people aren't super close.
  8. Street performers: Namely the robot kind that don't talk, they just stand there all glittery and silent. Clowns can be lumped into that category as well.
  9. Going into Space: Have I ever done it? Will I ever do it? No! Why anyone would want to - I will never understand. There's no oxygen people!
  10. Hippopotami: According to the Discovery Channel, they can chomp you in half in one bite. Their freaking jaw unhinges like sharks! Plus, they are horrendous looking.
  11. Heights: Sort of. I have acute vertigo, which means I physically cannot be at an elevated height without something to hold on to (even if its a kitchen chair). And you can forget about me going up and down stairs without a rail.
  12. Hospitals: Or doctor's offices in general. They have pokey things, weird lighting, and they take your blood......
  13. Feet: If you have ugly feet, I have a hard time even shaking your hand. But I'm pretty good at hiding my disgust, so don't worry.

Spring update - who am I?

Its been ages since we've seen many of you, so below is a general update on what has been going since the New Year.

We're expecting! I'm not sure who knows, and who doesn't, so there it is. We're due Sept. 10th, and yes, Sarah has been so sick for the past 3 months she is thinking this might be our only one, and we'll just get some goldfish to complete the family. Goldfish are cool - right?

Since we found out about this little surprise, we decided to stay in Utah for a little longer instead of moving to LA this summer as planned. Sarah returned to work at Tahitian Noni after filming in LA, and Dave is still there as well. As of now, we are just getting ready for baby (painting the house, finishing the basement etc). We have a cruise planned in late May as a last hurrah before we are never alone again.

As of now, we are affectionately calling our unborn child "Dinosaur", in case anyone gets confused. We will be sending Dinosaur updates as they come in.

That's it for now. PEACE!

Dave and Sarah

We Surrender

Thanks to an abundance of peer pressure - The Allers have decided to become a blog. We figure its more informative than Myspace, and definitely less creepy. So enjoy!
